Experiencing Our Practice
We’ve put a lot of thought and planning into our office and the result is a dental environment unlike any other. From the time you book your appointment to the time you leave our care and in fact 24/7, every detail is designed for your health, convenience and comfort.
Our treatment approach involves the use of the latest technology and a deep understanding of our patients’ medical requirements, financial limitations and cosmetic goals. An important example is our use of digital X-rays to reduce your exposure to X-ray radiation by up to 90% and increase the diagnostic value of the radiographs.
We respect the value of your time and do our best to make sure that your appointment happens at the scheduled time. We’re open Monday to Friday at 7:00am, Monday to Thursday until 6:30pm, Friday until 12:00pm and to better suit your needs Sunday by appointment. If for any reason we do run late, we’ll treat you to a trip to the Second Cup café right next door, where the coffee and snacks are on us.
With over 50 years of combined experience our dentists offer an extensive array of treatments including:
- Endodontic (root canal)
- Prosthetic (crowns & bridges)
- Child Care Toothprinting
- Invisalign™ Orthodontic Treatment
- Surgical Implants
Regular check ups and cleanings by a dentist and hygienist are the best assurance of continuing good dental health. Regular preventative dental care can prevent gum disease and aid in early detection of problems with your teeth, gums and supporting bone.
Our preventative services include:
- Cleaning (scaling, root planning and sub-gingival irrigation)
- Periodontal oral examinations (to detect oral cancer, gum disease and tooth decay).
Restorative dentistry is the repair or replacement of damaged or diseased tooth structures. Today, the old silver filling material has been improved with less mercury content. We now also have the option of natural looking white or composite restorations, porcelain inlays and onlays and full coverage crowns – all designed to restore your teeth to their original splendor.
Our restorative services include:
- Crowns (caps)
Improving the appearance of a person’s smile can be as simple as whitening aged and discoloured teeth. It can also be an involved process including gum recontouring and realigning, lengthening and reshaping misaligned, misshapen or damaged teeth. Cosmetic dentistry offers many tools to give you the smile you want, including porcelain veneers and crowns, whitening and orthodontics.
A complete cosmetic consultation can help you understand how we can improve your smile and overall appearance.
Our cosmetic services include:
- Tooth-coloured fillings
- Whitening (in-office and take-home)
The health of your teeth depends largely on the health of your gums and supporting bone. Our dentists and hygienists are vigilant to ensure you have the proper treatment plan to maintain or improve your periodontal condition.
Our periodontal services include:
- Surgical and non-surgical treatment of gum disease
- Restorative treatments
When asked, 80% of people say they are unhappy with the colour of their teeth – and even less happy to realize their teeth will continue to discolor with age. Whitening your teeth is a simple, painless treatment and can be done with a take-home kit or an in-office whitening appointment. We use the highly acclaimed ZOOM Whitening System – In just two hours your smile could be the way you only dreamed it could be.
Root canal treatment is the mechanical and chemical cleansing of the root canal system of a tooth and allows us to preserve a tooth that would otherwise be lost due to pain or infection.
Missing teeth are more than just an esthetic problem. A functional mouth has a set of 28 – 32 teeth, all with their own roles to play. The loss of just one tooth can lead to drifting, shifting, periodontal disease and increased decay – all of which can lead to further tooth loss.
Tooth replacement can be achieved through various treatment modalities, including:
- Bridges including Maryland bridges
- Fixed cemented bridges
- Partial removable dentures
Child Care Tooth Printing
In case your child becomes lost or goes missing, tooth printing provides three tracking tools: a DNA sample, a scent sample and a dental imprint. For children, it’s quick and painless. For parents, it offers peace of mind and a potentially valuable identification tool.
The child bites into a softened wafer for less than a minute and the wafer retains a dental imprint. The remaining saliva on the wafer contains the DNA and scent after which the wafer is stored in an identification bag.
We hope it’s never needed, but in the case of a disappearance it’s the kind of precaution that could make all the difference.
Misaligned teeth are a functional and more obviously an esthetic problem. When teeth are not in their proper position the environment is ripe for decay and gum disease. Properly aligned teeth and jaws improve the health of the oral cavity.
Invisalign™ Orthodontic Treatment
No wires. No metal. No brackets. In short, no brace-face.
Invisalign™ is a new type of orthodontic treatment that can help correct some bite problems and straighten teeth for teens and adults. Comfortable, removable and virtually invisible, Invisalign™ aligners let you straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. Because of its unique design, Invisalign™ aligners let you eat and drink what you want, brush and floss normally and prevent mouth abrasions.
If you want a straighter, more symmetrical smile, but would rather not consider traditional braces, Invisalign™ might be the solution you’re looking for. Ask us for details.
Dental implants are essentially prosthetic (artificial) roots that can be used to replace missing teeth. With implants we no longer need to file the teeth adjacent to the one or more missing teeth to support either a fixed bridge or removable denture. Implants can also greatly increase the comfort of those persons who wear complete dentures and in the case of a complete lower denture, implants are very successful in increasing support and retention (no more flopping around). Please call us if you have any questions regarding improving your dental health and comfort through the use of dental implants.
